Phase 1 - Technical Guidelines and Standards for IoT Network Deployment (2021)
Phase 2 - Studying GWIN Efficiency and Development of IoT Harmonization Standard for EMSD (2023)

The Government-Wide IoT Network was the LoRa wide area network implemented by the EMSD (Electrical and Mechanical Services Department) of Hong Kong. This project was conducted by the IoTLab of City University of Hong Kong, led by Dr. Kim Fung Tsang, to provide guidelines of governmental departments and affiliates using the network to ensure harmonization quality of service.

The core of this project was to utilize the IoT Indices under the IEEE 2668 standard to quantify the evaluation of devices, systems, parts of the network, and applications. This framework also provides a verification mechanisms that ensure end devices connected to the network behave according to centralized policies.

The IoTLab was led by Dr Tsang, alongside with 1 Post-Doc Researcher, 5 graduate students, and 7 undergrad students. Thomas an Undergrad RA at the IoTLab.
